Reporting into the Deputy Director, Stewardship, the Senior Assistant Director of Gift Stewardship and Reporting plays a pivotal role in managing the stewardship and reporting functions for major donors. This role is primarily responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fund stewardship procedures. Working collaboratively with faculties, the position ensures effective donor fund utilisation by aligning donor contributions with institutional needs, while maintaining adherence to donor intentions and organisational priorities.
Key Responsibilities Include
Monitoring of Donor Fund Utilisation: Work with Faculties to ensure the allocation and administration of donor funds are used according to donor intentions and organisational priorities. Monitor the effectiveness of fund utilisation and provide transparent reporting on fund impacts. Develop, implement and improve upon processes to aid the accurate monitoring of these funds.
Impact Reporting: Supervise the preparation and delivery of detailed impact reports for major donors. Ensure reports accurately reflect the outcomes and achievements resulting from their contributions, and maintain high standards of reporting accuracy and integrity.
Data Management and Analysis: Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of donor records within the CRM system. Track and analyse donor engagement data to inform strategic decisions and maintain compliance with reporting standards.
Stewardship and Donor Engagement: Develop and implement strategic plans to recognise and engage major donors. This involves creating tailored recognition programs, managing personalised communications, and fostering strong donor relationships to enhance engagement and retention.
Faculty Engagement: Collaborate with faculty members to ensure that donor funds are utilised effectively. Align donor contributions with faculty needs and projects and facilitate communication between faculty and donors to demonstrate the impact of their support.
Strategic Alignment: Work closely with leadership to align stewardship initiatives with University’s strategic goals. Contribute to long-term planning and goal-setting to support the university’s growth and success.
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
A good university Degree, preferably Master’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or Engineering fields.
Minimum of 10 - 12 years’ progressive experience, preferably within higher education, philanthropic organisations or a comparably complex organisation.
Demonstrated success in achieving strategic outcomes in a large and complex environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and critically.
Proficiency in numerical analysis to derive insights that can improve strategies, polices and processes is essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of engaging stakeholders across all levels.
Excellent ability to innovate and deal with ambiguity and organisational sensitivity with tact and diplomacy; to be opportunistic, responsive, resourceful, and resilient.
Demonstrate a clear understanding and awareness of ethical considerations pertaining to advancement work, as well as an understanding and appreciation of cultural and intercultural sensitivities.
