Our client is actively searching for an Associate Director, Taxation to join their team!

Tax Leader in University tax matters. Scope of work covers GST, reverse charge, property tax review, any other tax matters and projects related to tax.
Oversee the university tax team in the Office of Finance. Responsible for University’s tax management, tax risk exposure and compliance with tax laws and requirements, especially on GST, reverse charge, withholding tax, property tax and international tax. Owner of tax process and University policies.Tax Operations
Proper accounting of taxes (GST, reverse charge, withholding tax, property tax etc)
Prompt filing of tax returns (e-filing of withholding tax, GST, property tax etc)
Review and analyze tax report
Review IRAS’ property tax assessment and computation for allocation
Oversee the billing of external parties on property tax recovery
Review GST computation
Proper reconciliation of tax GL accounts
Work closely with tax authorities for tax exemptions etc
Handle tax queries from IRAS
Provide tax advisory to units’ tax queries Provide University wide training on tax process/policies and updates
Ad-hoc duties as assigned
Process/Policy Management & Transformation
Team Lead GST rate change project with consultants and ensure process re-design and timely implementation. Drive process and operations stability after implementation
Review current tax structure and practices of the University for tax reporting and compliance. Recommend and implement improvements.
Review tax team’s service and support strategy and look for opportunity to centralize new tax services into the Office of Finance
Review regularly tax business scenarios and seek opportunity for tax savings
Participate in University level Finance transformation initiatives (system and process implementation) and play leadership role to manage process, team and system changes and implementation
Team Management
Oversee and provide day to day guidance and direction to staff on issues and resolution. Build a high-performance Tax team through on-the-job training and development
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
Degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field
10-12 years of experience in tax
Strong leadership skills in managing stakeholders and with experience in managing an effective team.
Possess strong communication skill, both written and verbal; and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in SAP Finance Module; MS Office applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Self-directed, hands-on, motivated with high degree of commitment to meeting deadlines, targets and objectives.
Attention to detail, working within a fast-paced environment and a sense of urgency.
Independent and able to work well with internal and external parties.
Technically competent with up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations and practices
