Finance Cluster Lead for 5 Research Institutes / Research Centre of Excellence.The responsibilities of this role are: Finance Business Partnering
Provide budgeting, forecasting support at RIC/RCE level and/or program level
Work with RIC/RCE Directors/Admin Director on new strategic initiatives. Support finance business modelling and analysis. Provide finance insights to enable better decision making.
Provide advisory on risk, governance and compliance requirements
Understand grantors agreement and conditions. Work with Principal Investigators, Project Managers and Grantors to ensure timely claims submissions, variations and valid charging of expense categories.
Maintain constant dialogue, as a key contact person with RIC/RCE Directors, RIC/RCE Admin Directors, Principal Investigators and Project Managers to understand new initiatives, assess operational impact and support the implementation of initiatives
Operational Accounting Management
Provide oversight of accounting operational review and support to RIC/RCEs. This includes General Ledger accounting, Asset accounting, Inter Department/Customer billings, Vendor Invoice verification, Expense claims processing/verification and any other accounting operations.
Ensure close monitoring and controls are in place for review of reconciliation, timely recognition of transactions per accounting standards and internal accounting policies
Ensure adequate systems and processes are in place for clusters’ operations and provide advice on financial guidelines, funding framework, policies, procedures and compliance
Oversee and provide day to day guidance and direction to staff on issues and resolution
Work with internal and external auditors to ensure timely completion of audit review and certification of Financial Statements and Grants.
Build a high performance Finance team through on the job training and development
Projects and Operational Excellence
Review and streamline current processes to enhance operational efficiency
Participate in University level Finance transformation initiatives (eg, Procurement system and process implementation) and play leadership role to manage process, team and system changes and implementation
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
Degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field
10-12 years of experience in accounting and finance
Strong leadership skills in managing stakeholders and with experience in managing an effective team.
Possess strong communication skill, both written and verbal; and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in SAP Finance Module; MS Office applications.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Self-directed, hands-on, motivated with high degree of commitment to meeting deadlines, targets and objectives.
Attention to detail, working within a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and a sense of urgency.
Independent and able to work well with internal and external parties.
Technically competent with up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and, practices
Knowledge in audit and controls procedures
