The Operations, Support and Product Manager is an operational hands-on managerial role responsible for the operational governance, sustainability, process and technology change of the Data Centre, Systems and Platform functions. You will oversee and govern a group of outsourced and resident engineers to ensure they meet services excellence, security compliance, audit and business requirement

The responsibilities of this role are:
  • Oversee and govern outsourced and resident engineers to ensure they meet services excellence, security compliance, audit and business requirement.
  • Proactively review outsourced and resident engineers operational support and practices on Data Centre, Systems and Platform operation. Highlight and escalate issues for remediation and improvement.
  • Response, follow through and resolve escalation and feedback from the stakeholders who is using our infrastructure services. Identify opportunity for services improvement.
  • Manage and optimise IT operations and support performance.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis and optimization, introduce improvements and enhancement to existing infrastructure, datacenter, platform and processes.
  • Identify trends and emerging issues impacting our service delivery and, where necessary, make recommendation on alternative courses of action or to rectify the issues promptly.
  • Establish operational strategy and effective vendor management to ensure our operational vendor deliver the services according to Service Level Agreement (SLA), adhere to the University's quality expectation, address our stakeholder's requirement timely, aligning their objective towards University's operational excellence and providing values visible to our stakeholders.
  • Lead infrastructure implementation projects, plan, implement and manage a stable, highly secure and agile infrastructure.
  • Collaborate and work closely with domain experts from infrastructure, applications, and security expert to integrate pertinent requirements, priorities and best practices into our infrastructure operational processes.
  • Proactive in addressing the stakeholders needs of platform deployment, security and operational support requirement leveraging on operational vendors or other alternative resources taking into consideration the cost effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Manage and maintain Infrastructure product line (e.g. server co-location, compute resources, storage, file hosting services and etc.), managing product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities, acting as liaison to support product positioning and internal user's demand.
  • Proactively review and evaluate product functionality and performance and propose enhancement and/or improvements to product based on the stakeholders and user's feedback. Improve users experience and drive greater adoption of infrastructure product line.
  • Provide technical solution, design best practices, budgetary and operational recommendations to University's project team involved in feasibility study, POC or implementation of their solution using University's IT on premise or cloud infrastructure.
  • Plan procurement schedule, develop technical requirement specifications and carry out procurement activities to ensure required solution, services and software is procured successfully and timely.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • A relevant university degree with at least 12 years of relevant working experience.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experiences in IT Operational Management, Technical Solutioning, and/or infrastructure product line lifecycle management.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experiences in managing project teams members, outsource vendor and/or resident engineers.
  • Familiar with infrastructure and applications deployment operation, IT Service Management processes, tools and methodologies.
  • Exposure to IT Security ISO 27001 or security best practices.
  • Able to work with diversified group of stakeholders, high performing team and align to business objectives and outcomes.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail with the ability to deep dive when required.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented with excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellence verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experiences in procurement activities.
  • Good knowledge in infrastructure architecture including operating systems and containers administration, storage, virtualisation, public cloud, network, backup, automation and orchestration tools, security management tools.
  • More than 5 years’ of support or implementation hand on experience in any of above infrastructure architecture technology.
  • Exposure and technical in-depth knowledge in file hosting and collaboration services and technology will be an advantage.
  • Exposure to data centre operation, Green Mark certification and green technology initiatives will be an advantage.
