The Director of Campus, Facilities and Infrastructure provides leadership on campus planning, development, leasing and facility management activities of the University. The incumbent is also responsible for the planning and management of the University's long-term and annual operating budgets for the development and operation of the University's campus. This position is expected to work collaboratively with all units within the University to develop a high quality, fully functional campus that is safe, clean, well maintained and conducive to meeting the needs of students, faculty, staff and the public for a dynamic academic environment.
 

The responsibilities of this role are:
  • Work with University administrators, faculty, and staff to analyse and assess maintenance, growth, and facilities needs pertaining to programmatic changes. Develop and implement programs, strategies and plans to meet those needs, preparing conceptual plans for new facilities as appropriate. Provide input, and recommendations for, the space utilization plan for the campus.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of facilities in the Campus including the leasing of facilities and the food and beverage outlets
  • Develop strategies and implement various aspects of the Campus and Infrastructure Facilities Department business plan to support and align with the missions of university.
  • Drive environmental and energy management of the Campus to ensure effective energy conservation and sustainability programs
  • Develop and coach an Effective Facilities Management team to support University's activities.
  • Advise the University Administration on funding needs to adequately maintain the physical facilities and assist the administration in the allocation of financial resources for various capital improvement and maintenance projects on campus.
  • Drive efficient utilization of financial resources
  • Monitor capital construction projects and budgets, providing strategic direction, coordination, and leadership to facilities project managers in all facets of the design, implementation, and administration of individual project plans and assuring compliance with administrative policies and sound financial practices
  • Establish Best Practices and SOP related to all aspects of facilities management responsibilities including but not limited to regulatory compliance, quality control, construction administration, asset management, personal, safety, energy initiatives, and financial management. Create and maintain manuals addressing Best Practices and SOPs.
  • Provide guidance on leasing of facilities and retail outlets in the Campus
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • More than 15 years of relevant experience, combined with a Bachelor's Degree in Building Services, Facilities Management, or equivalent discipline
  • Experience in administration of multiple maintenance and operations and capital construction projects from conception to completion.
  • Comprehensive understanding of facilities maintenance and operations management, utility operations and infrastructure
  • Experience in sound financial management
  • Experience in retail leasing management is an advantage
  •  Strong leadership and advocacy skills necessary to ensure the continued successful growth and responsiveness of the department
  • Adept at identifying and implementing creative solutions to complex problems
  • Demonstrated competence in working comfortably with people who have a diverse range of skills, knowledge, abilities and backgrounds
  • Skilled at teambuilding at all levels of campus hierarchy and with external authorities and constituencies
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, using oral, written and electronic methods
  • Strong project management capabilities, and related experience in facilities and property management.
