We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and strengthen and energise our industry and the wider community. A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: mentor and facilitate student learning, manage the digital technology labs related resources and participate in innovation projects.

In this role, you are to manage and maintain the Media Production Studio, Audio Recording rooms, Pre- and Post-Production Studio.  Your knowledge in digital media pre-production, production, post-production and media communications will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the studio’s operations.  Experience in Visual Effects, 3D animations, VR/AR and in teaching in a tertiary institute would be an advantage.

You will also be involved in mentoring and facilitating student’s learning, participate in and manage innovation projects.

The responsibilities of this role are:
  • Develop and teach Digital Media Production modules for the BSc (Hons) Digital Communications and Integrated Media. Development of learning activities and assessment of students may form part of the responsibilities.
  • Setup and manage Digital Media Production software and hardware, as well as set-up of studios/labs for the DCIM programme. This may involve manage, provide training to staff and students on usage of these equipment as well as development of lab manuals.
  • Run technical workshops for students to cover recording equipment and software used in studios/labs.
  • Mentor students during hands-on projects and studios/labs activities to enhance their practical problem-solving skills. This involves supervision of students in their projects and assignments as part of applied learning.
  • Guide students to navigate the industry environment during their IWSP.
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Provide consultations to undergraduate students and staff on digital communications and integrated media skills and technologies.
  • Provide support in ad-hoc activities (i.e., promote division initiatives, conduct short workshops, etc.)  
  • Manage digital media content related resources within the division (i.e. system administrator for software, hardware systems and equipment)

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • A good degree in Communications Media or Digital Media from a recognized University, with 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates with a good diploma and vast industry experience may also be considered. 
  • Have experience in Visual Effects, 3D animations, VR/AR
  • Have hands-on competency in media production planning, recording equipment use, studio and production design, post-production equipment & software, media production workflow.
  • Have experience in digital post-production workflow and media asset management system.
  • Have experience in setting up facilities for digital communications media production, establish equipment loan procedures and training users. 
  • Enjoy working with students in an educational environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency to stay current on emerging technologies.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work individually or in a team and with other divisions.
  • Innovative mindset and passion in digital technology is required.
  • Passionate about training, coaching and mentoring students.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university.
  • IT savvy and a team player in a dynamic environment.
  • Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Show strong initiative and take ownership of work.
