  JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is actively searching for a Assistant Director, Strategic Planning & Coordination to join their team!

The successful incumbent support the Director in formulating the University’s narrative and strategies including driving the long- and mid-term strategic planning and annual work planning processes. The duties include:
  • Formulating of plans, initiatives, and measures to support implementation of the University's strategies
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of management reporting environments and monitoring key performance indicators
  • Communicate and implement the approved plans in partnership with other corporate divisions
  • Identifying trends and emerging issues that impact strategies and, where necessary, making recommendations on alternative courses of action to senior management.

The responsibilities of this role are:
  • Lead the Strategic Planning Team and work closely with Director to develop long-term strategic plans and the annual institution work plan.
  • Lead the institution strategic planning and target setting processes, in collaboration with Finance and Human Resource Divisions.
  • Establish systems and policies to enable performance tracking and reporting.
  • Translate performance data into analysis and insights.
  • Assist in the dissemination of the plans, and key performance indicators to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the regular reporting of performance against planned objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to Senior Management and the Board of Trustees (BOT).
  • Coordinate with relevant divisions to gather and ensure accuracy of data for KPIs and prepare the progress reports and presentation slides for the annual Performance Review Forum with the Ministry of Education.
  • Play a key role in identifying trends and emerging issues in the higher education sector and across the broader political environment, disruptive trends and the implications on the institution.
  • Conceptualise and organise events, including Board retreats, senior management meetings, planning workshops and seminars, to facilitate the annual planning exercise.
  • Coordinate discussion and engagement sessions with internal and external stakeholders, including the preparation of meeting materials and presentation slides.
  • Provide full secretariat support to key management meetings, workshops and retreats, being responsible for the administration of meetings and the formal record of meeting outcomes.
  • Any other ad hoc projects as and when required.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • Degree or Master in Business, Finance or Law or equivalent 
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and management.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and management.
  • Experience in enterprise risk management an added advantage.
  • Experience in secretariat work with highly developed drafting and minute writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organisational abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills, and ability to collate and present complex data and information.
  • Excellent writing, communication and digital literacy skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of flexibility and a positive attitude to innovate and change.
  • Meticulous and good with details
  • A good team player and comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
