Job Summary 

If you have a passion for design and data and enjoys devising creative ways to tell visual stories, we want you. As a professional with both creative skills and a sensitivity towards numbers, you will create solutions for the organisation’s visual media, web / mobile, static and interactive).
You will work closely with data analysts/researchers, writers/editors and marketing professionals to conceptualise and produce material that communicates information in clear, accurate and compelling ways.
The responsibilities of this role are:
Information Design
  • Collaborate with the Research team to translate data into compelling visual concepts/narratives and presentation materials 
  • Evaluate information problems and provide visual solutions that communicate the data in an accurate and compelling manner 
  • Create infographics and data visualizations, and prepare them for publication in a variety of media 
  • Expand the capabilities of the organisation by acquiring new skills, such as motion graphics and interactive design 

Graphic Design
  • Demonstrate editorial judgement, creativity and flair 
  • Develop and execute creative online and offline marketing communications materials from conception to delivery, in adherence to corporate branding guidelines. Materials include but are not limited to: corporate collaterals, newsletters, presentation decks, web / mobile sites, EDMs, brochures, annual reports etc.
  • Be a champion of the company’soverseeallvisualvisualtouchpoints identi for internal and external branding 
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to determine design strategy and requirements. 
  • Regularly gather feedback from team members and implement visual improvements to help facilitate their work e.g. regularly update the templates with submitted suggestions and incorporate new features 
  • Manage the company’snddepartmentstockbudgetimage.Adviseonlegallibrary licensing / copyright issues regarding image usage 
  • Liaise with vendor(s) and review quality and cost to ensure quality is delivered within the budget
Visual Design Research & Expertise
  • Collaborate on research involving people’s response to communicated. Help develop insights / guidelines on the visual design and communication of information, applying a combination of analytic / data and graphic design principles

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience :
  • Minimum Diploma in related field 
  • Design education in either information design, graphic design or a related field 
  • Ability to draw characters/scenes, primarily in vector style
  • Some background in mathematics, statistics, research, business or other relevant disciplines involving quantitative data
  • Adaptable and able to perform under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Team player but able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal
  • A portfolio or samples of work showcasing demonstrating strong visual design skills and/or data visualisation work, including using templates, charts and graphics suitable for traditional or digital media
  • Advanced to Expert skills in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Prior work experience creating infographics and data visualisations is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of any of the following interactive data storytelling/visualization tools and web infrastructure would be an added advantage: Tableau, HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, D3.js, Chart.js, Adobe After effects
  • Familiarity with latest digital storytelling trends is preferred.
