  JOB DESCRIPTION Our client is actively searching for a Deputy Facility Director to join their team!

The responsibilities of this role are:
 
  • Support the Director in the set-up of the facility. This includes planning and design of facility layout, equipment, utility and resource requirements, as well as, development of a business plan. 
  • Ensure the set-up is kept on budget and within the timeline.  Communicate issues and progress with the Director.
  • Accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility.  Ensure the adequate system is set-up and maintain to manage and track clients booking, equipment usage and equipment/ facility calibration and maintenance activities.
  • Source and manage all sub-contractors, vendors and equipment.
  • Liaise with the internal and external stakeholders and manage site activities.
  • Oversee the installation and commission of the equipment.
  • Lead and manage safety, sanitation & hygiene programs for the facility.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable statutory and regulatory food safety requirement and conformity to agreed client requirements.
  • Provide technical and process expertise to the client on the application/ usage of the equipment in their research projects.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors and clients.
  • Support in training programs on application and operation of the equipment.
  • To stay abreast of changes and practices in food safety, regulatory and food technology.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • At least Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology or Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 15 years of relevant work experience, with good knowledge of industry practices, R&D and manufacturing of food production.
  • Familiar in research and academic support work and ability to develop solutions to a technical problem.
  • Possess strong management skill and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
  • Good knowledge of local and international food regulations.
  • Understands industries and businesses needs and challenges.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skill to build a strong network with local and regional food manufacturers and other external stakeholders to promotes capabilities.
  • Self-starter and able to work independently in a highly collaborative and international environment.
