The responsibilities of this role are:

Job Purpose
  • The Advancement and Development unit is responsible for the delivery of strategic fundraising programmes that support the priorities of the institution. Under the overall leadership of the Head of External Affairs, the unit organized Annual Giving, Donor Relations & Stewardship, Database Services and Development.
  • The Advancement and Development Manager is required to develop, manage, support and implement major gift fundraising programmess which will raise significant new funds for scholarships, professorship, research, student support initiatives and other specific philanthropic priorities. 
  • The role will oversee and execute the School's advancement and development engagement strategy and activities which will include developing a coherent strategy for prospecting, engagement of existing donors and developing compliant processes to report the use of funds by the School.
  • In addition, the role will forge new partnerships to create incremental opportunities for the School to advance its mission beyond funding. This can include opportunities for outreach, faculty collaboration with corporates, etc.
  • Success will be measured by the overall satisfaction level of our donors in terms of their engagement with the school, incremental commitment we are able to secure with the donors as well as new opportunities identified and secured.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work closely with key fundraisers in the School to obtain private donations, identify, cultivate and solicit existing and new donors through various programmes and activities.
  • Support the Reporting Officer in creating an annual development plan, including revenue and expense targets, donor cultivation, and timelines to meet the objectives of the plan.
  • Managing local event logistics, execution, post event follow-up and support third-party fundraising efforts.
  • Develop invitations, e-invites, programmes, communication materials for special fundraising events and oversees printing and distribution of event materials and advertisements.
  • Coordinate all development related mailings, including direct mails and donor updates.
  • Support the Reporting Officer in preparing and hosting development meetings, planning meetings for special events and visits by special guests or organizations. This includes preparing meeting materials and taking meeting minutes.
  • Manage donor records and update information on central database system.
  • Assist Head of Department with tracking the grant outcome measures, financial reports to ensure compliance updates.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • Possess a Bachelor Degree, preferably with a Major in Business Administration, Marketing, and Communications or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Possess 5-10 years of relevant working experience in development, fundraising, communications and special events.
  • Possess strong understanding of the fundraising sector gained through experience as a senior major gift fundraiser, or building long-term customer relationships in sales and marketing, or in a ‘cause-related’ environment and be able to successfully close gift solicitations.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills to assist in developing successful proposals, drafting gift conformations and creating compelling case for support documents.
  • Possess the ability to work effectively and negotiate with staff, faculty and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills; attention to details.
  • Possess experience and an aptitude for using social media platforms to enhance development and marketing activities.
  • Demonstrate good organizational capabilities with an eye for details.
  • Demonstrate strong planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly committed with good service-oriented attitude.
