Our client, a global tertiary university, is inviting suitable candidates for the role of Manager, External Relations, to join their team.

Reporting to the Academic Director, the key accountabilities for this role are:
  • Develop and implement an industry engagement program designed to increase industry engagement in Singapore.
  • Identify, establish and maintain relationships with industry partners and key stakeholders to leverage opportunities for industry placements, guest lecturers and career opportunities for students.
  • Manage industry placement administration and activities effectively, fostering constructive working relationships with employers, academics, college and university staff to develop a pipeline of opportunities for students.
  • Effectively promote to internal and external clients a point of difference between the university and other tertiary institutions.
  • Work with internal college units to establish a feedback process with industry clients to increase the number and variety of industry placements for students and increase satisfaction for industry clients and students.
  • Establish and manage a feedback process with industry clients to increase the number and variety of industry placements in Singapore for students and increase satisfaction for industry clients.
    • Manage and administer marketing and promotional events the university open house, alumni functions, marketing and industry/career events and other events as required.
    • Support the College’s branding and merchandising activities in Singapore.
  • Develop and implement a plan for alumni engagement and activities in collaboration with the Alumni office.
  • Provide support, guidance and advice to assist the College and Alumni Office in developing and maintaining effective alumni relationships.
  • Act as a liaison point for key based organisation units including Marketing, Industry Engagement, Work Integrated Learning, Academic Services Unit, Alumni Office etc. as required to ensure alignment of activities.
    • Provision of support to lecturers including the co-coordination of activities to be undertaken during their visit.
    • Monitor the availability of all academics for face-to-face student consultation and related support and work with the university to deliver an effective timetable.
    • Co-facilitate student access to global mobility, internship, global intensives and broader student enrichment opportunities for the students.

Key criteria important in the selection of the ideal candidate:
  • Demonstrated administrative experience in the tertiary education sector in a global context.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management, and delivery of industry placement services, cooperative education and traineeships with a commitment to providing high quality internal and external customer service.
  • Excellent relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with industry, key College groups, academic and professional staff, students, and external clients.
  • Proven experience in management and coordination of projects, planning, communication, implementation, evaluation and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a demanding environment with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write concisely and with clarity and converse in a confident and effective manner with others from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • High-level computer skills using Word, Excel, databases, internet, intranet and email with the focus on effectiveness, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of the usage of web and mobile applications and social media to engage with stakeholders is desirable.
